Are you fed up with taking pain pills or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories every day just to move in the morning? Let alone be able to work out or exercise again? I know exactly what it feels like because I have been there too. After suffering from right knee arthritis pain and lower back pain I have finally found some nutrients that completely changed my life. This has been bothering me since my high school days. I ended up hurting both knees my senior year. I tore some cartilage in my left knee meniscus and had surgery. No more than six weeks later, when I was wrestling, I tore cartilage in my right knee and had surgery on that.
It all healed up but then as I got through college, I started to engage in the sport of power lifting. Weightlifting had always been really important to me and I had always been big on trying to stay healthy. Powerlifting was so much fun because you could lift as much weight as you want based on your body weight. You competed in the squat, bench press, and dead lift. It was really cool. But when you push your body that hard, eventually you get hurt. That happened to me back in 1999; I tore some cartilage in my right knee. This was a different kind of pain; I still remember what happened.
Here’s What Happened
I was in the gym getting ready by training for an upcoming National Competition in Chicago. I had just placed second at the Lifetime Drug-Free Powerlifting Nationals in St. Louis the year before, 1998. I was really eyeing the number one spot. I was nationally ranked and just really churning away with my workouts and training program. One day I was in the gym warming up and I twisted wrong. I felt this sharp pain in my right knee and I ignored it at first, continuing to train through but it got worse. My form was only a little bit off. I know now we’re never supposed to ignore pain. But when you’re getting ready for a national competition, you kind of do what you have to do.
The next thing I know, this pain wouldn’t let me squat. It was waking me up at night. I couldn’t go up and down stairs. At that time, I was squatting over 700 pounds, if you could believe that. I was also weighing in at a body weight of over 290-pounds back in those days. I’m like a hundred pounds lighter so what you see right now was not where I was back in 1999. The pain started to limit me. I couldn’t squat or get my workouts in. When I was handling the heavier weights, it felt like a knife was going through there. I started living on Ibuprofen and Motrin; the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories. I was taking more and more every day just to be able to lift. Finally, I had enough and went to an orthopedic surgeon friend of mine to look at it.
The Doctors Findings
He ended up doing a knee scope and found I had torn a chunk of cartilage off the femur; This is what’s called articular cartilage. He did a procedure some of you may know, called a microfracture surgery.
He isolated the section where the cartilage tore off the bone and trimmed it back. Then he drilled little holes into the bone, which fractures it and creates this bleeding blood clot causing the stem cells within to form this fibrocartilage patch. It’s not the same thing as the original cartilage, but it at least covers the exposed bone.
Over time, I found it doesn’t make it like new. It fixes the problem for day-to-day life, but keeps you from being able to get back into the higher level of competition. That knee injury ended my power lifting career. Even though I could walk and climb steps, I continued to have right knee pain on and off with early onset arthritis from 1999 all the way to 2016. I couldn’t run or jump. If I did get down on my hands and knees to play with my kids, it would bother me and create pain. I would pay for it. I couldn’t go water skiing or snow skiing. There were even times where I would wake up, step out of bed in the morning, and it would snap, crack or pop. It would really hurt! I started gaining weight. It just impacted my life in such a negative way.
At that point I was at the end of my rope and just accepted it saying this is just how my knee is going to be. I’ve got some arthritis. I had this injury back in 1999 and it’s just how it is, you know?
It Is What It Is… Or Is It?
In 2016 I was introduced by a friend of mine to this joint supplement called Joint Nutra Care. When he told me about this I thought, “yeah, what’s this really going to do?” I had tried other supplements, treatments, taping and even therapy. It just didn’t fix any of it! I figured it was just a structural problem.
At the same time, I thought, “what do I have to lose?” So, I started taking Joint Nutra Care in 2016. After the first couple months of taking it, I didn’t really think I noticed that much. My knee was just kind of what it was.
After I had been on it for a couple of months, I ended up going to a conference for physical therapy. We have to maintain and continue educating ourselves as physical therapists. Testing the Waters
I started challenging my knee; Trying to twist, squat, and kneel. You know, how it is. It’s like let me test this thing out! None of it hurt. I finished the conference and got through it with no pain; There should have had pain on day one. I thought, “well, there’s something going on and I haven’t done anything different. So, what is this? It’s got to be the supplement Joint Nutra Care.”
When I got home, I decided to test this out. I stopped taking the supplement and guess what? My pain came back within a couple of weeks after quitting the supplement. I knew then the supplement was working and alleviating the pain. It was giving me more motion, decreasing the inflammation, and helping keep the cartilage healthy. In just the last year I have actually lost more weight. I’ve been able to exercise; I had not been able to run for over 28 years. I had not run since I got out of the Army clear back in 1992! Secret Nutrients: Pomegranate Seed Extract
These seeds are amazing, they have a list of health benefits that are all proven in studies. In fact, in 2014, Advanced Biomedical Research published the article “Potent Health Effects of Pomegranate” located at this link.
Pomegranate Seed Extract is a very powerful anti-inflammatory. It releases the enzyme known as Cox-2. Some of you may know about Cox-2. That’s because Cox-2 is an enzyme responsible for inflammation in the body. The inhibitors that came out on the market quite a few years back (Celebrex, Bextra, and Vioxx) include it. There are huge lawsuits regarding Bextra and Vioxx due to the number of deaths linked to taking those medications. In fact, those medications have been removed and are not even offered anymore.
