Do Weight Loss Programs Stress You Out?

Do Weight Loss Programs Stress You Out?

Are You Frustrated With Weight Loss Systems That Are Stressful as a Busy Mom or Dad?

Hi, this is Mike Uhrlaub and this is Power Your Life by Flex PT. I know exactly what it feels like to be a stressed out parent, like many moms and dads out there. We just have so many things coming at us from so many different angles. You have your job, your career, and you have everything going on with the kids. You’re trying to keep up with the household and spend time with your significant other. It just seems like life gets moving so fast when you start to incorporate a weight loss program, it just completely adds to that stress.

For me, that is frustrating. The stress that I would encounter was one of the issues that I had through my weight loss journey. I was always trying to work on this part of the diet, or I was trying to figure out “When can I eat this?” or “Am I allowed to eat that?”. Sometimes my wife and I would go to an event and I would realize that there was nothing there I could eat. Even though I could plan and pack little food packets, it just got to be too much, and it wasn’t sustainable. That’s why as I have gone through my journey

have learned the different kinds of weight loss methods.

Eventually, I found out what truly worked for me. If a program is too complicated or if it just is not reasonable to work into your life, you’re not going to do it. A program, a system, or a tool that you use in weight loss must be simple, easy to use, and understandable. This is something called “Analysis Paralysis”, which happens for many people. If something is too complicated, too hard, too convoluted, or there’s too many moving parts to it, you almost get stuck just trying to figure it out.

You’re just trying to analyze all the parts of it and you just end up not doing it. You don’t take action, or you look at the program and you’re just like, “Oh my God, I don’t even know where to start”. All those things can just really get a busy mom or dad stuck. You kind of feel like you’re spinning your wheels. So, for me, I’ve always tried to figure out what is the best to lower the stress in my weight loss program that I am trying to implement. I found that there’s really five key components or five key items that the program must meet for it to do that.

First of all, it has to be EASY.

The program must be easy to implement and easy to use.

It must be FLEXIBLE.

For me, I needed a lot of flexibility in my life and I needed a program that I could move with me as things in the day would change.

It must be INEXPENSIVE.

Let’s face it, today things are getting more and more expensive. There is barely anything that is going down in price, making life more and more expensive, which is why a program needs to be inexpensive.

The program also needs to SAVE TIME.

With time being the only resource that is not renewable, we don’t get more of it. We only have so much time on this earth and you are going to want something that’s going to cut back your time and save you time so you can use it elsewhere. There really is no way to save time. You can’t just bottle it up and stick it in the bank. When you spend it, it’s gone forever. For each of us, every second, every minute, and every hour of every day is one less second, minute, or hour that we have on our clock. None of us know when that clock is going to expire or end. So, we want to use our time wisely and when I say it must save time, it means that it doesn’t waste your time and it uses your time wisely.

Finally, the program must be EFFECTIVE.

It must take the weight off and it must help you keep the weight off. One of the tools that I found that works extremely well has been intermittent fasting.  While intermittent fasting has been talked about in the health and wellness industry, the idea is that you just don’t eat for an extended period, that’s it. Now, there are different variations of it. Some people will fast for 16 hours at a time, while others might prefer to fast one day and eat normally the next. How you do it doesn’t really matter as much as the why.

Let’s Talk About Intermittent Fasting

What I’d like to do is look at those 5 Key Components that you can benefit from when you utilize intermittent fasting. The first one we talked about is that it must be easy and intermittent fasting is easy, unlike a lot of other diets like Paleo or vegetarian.

Intermittent fasting is incredibly easy.  It’s so simple, I can explain it in one sentence. You just don’t eat for at least 16 hours at a time. That’s it. This is something that you can do. Even if you have food allergies, certain belief systems that influence your diet, or  you’re on a budget, the only piece of equipment you need is a clock. You can do it! You just need to keep track of your time. The next factor was flexibility and intermittent fasting is extremely flexible.  It really doesn’t matter when you fast and you can make it work around your schedule. You can start out fasting 16 hours a day, eating two meals a day and a snack in between, but you can tweak it, and you can make it work for you, your schedule, and your health goals.

That was one of the things that appealed to me about using intermittent fasting.  My weight loss system gave me that flexibility to adjust if my day changed or things came up that I didn’t expect. I wasn’t rigidly eating at certain times or eating certain foods, like other programs had required me to do. I really liked the flexibility aspect of it and for me, it needed to be inexpensive. This is really the least expensive diet or weight loss program that I have ever been on.

No pills, food, or fancy equipment to buy…

You really do save money when you utilize intermittent fasting. You are also eating less overall, saving you on your grocery bill. Who doesn’t love a weight loss program that adds dollar bills to your bank account while you drop the pounds? As mentioned before, Intermittent fasting is time effective. It does save time. I have noticed that as I’ve used it. Not only does it save me money, but it saves time and uses my resources in a better way. Some people follow a schedule of fasting for 16 hours or more and find out that they’re satisfied with two meals.

At the very least, you’re cutting out the time that it takes you to fix that extra meal. Plus, all the snacks you have throughout the day. You add that to the dishes you don’t have to clean and the groceries you don’t have to haul home. It’s can save you quite a bit of time over the course of a year. Just think how you can utilize that time to spend with your family and other pursuits that you really enjoy.

The last important criteria for me was that intermittent fasting had to be an effective way to lose weight. Honestly, this is my favorite benefit of it. It really is a great way to lose weight.

How Does This Work?

So, here’s what happens. As you fast, your blood sugar is going to drop, and insulin is going to clear out of your system. Your body will switch from using energy derived from food to burning stored body fat. Instead, it’s going to use that stored body fat for energy. When your stomach starts to growl or you feel that temptation to break your fast prematurely, think about that.  Remind yourself, I am in full fat burning mode and I want to keep it that way. Just think, that’s just another pound that I’m going to lose. That is what motivates me to stay in that fast until the time is up.
