Emily Weitzel

Physical Therapist

I grew up and graduated from Treynor, IA. During my high school career, I participated in various activities, including band and soccer. From there, I went to Iowa State University to receive my undergraduate bachelor’s degree in health and kinesiology and a minor in psychology. After graduating from Iowa State University, my husband and I traveled to Davenport, IA, where I worked on my doctoral degree at St. Ambrose University. After graduating with my Doctorate of Physical Therapy, we moved back to Council Bluffs, where we now live with our cat. I joined the Flex Physical Therapy team in February 2024.

I have completed rotations in acute care, neurological rehabilitation, pelvic floor therapy, and outpatient orthopedics.

My Core Values Are:

  1. Kindness for all
  2. Education for patients
  3. Integrity
  4. Courage

“Don’t let the world change your smile. Let your smile change the world.”

My role in the clinic is to help evaluate patients, provide treatment, tailor an individualized plan of care, and discharge patients when they are ready.

Many patients who come to see us have experienced something that has changed the way they can lead their lives. I want to help them get back to what they were doing before the pain or injury that brought them into the clinic.

I enjoy treating patients who have undergone shoulder and knee surgeries. I find the anatomy of these conditions fascinating and love being able to get patients back to the prior level of functioning. Another condition that I enjoy treating are patients who have had concussions. As a past athlete, I have received 3 concussions of my own, and physical therapy helped me to get back on the field. My hope is to be that help for someone else. In the future, I hope to take additional classes and work with patients who experience pelvic pain.

I love working at Flex Physical Therapy because of the people. This includes the staff as well as the patients. Everyone here wants all patients to get better.

When not at work, I enjoy spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks, hanging out with my husband, playing with our cat, and curling up with a good book.
